smart details make it sturdier
Pros:
> Assembly was easy - I did it alone. The parts were clearly marked in bags with letters corresponding to the instructions. The wood pieces also were numbered for easy assembly. (see pic 1)
> The brackets to hold the glass have a rubber cover to keep glass in place securely and gently. (see pic 3)
> The brackets screwed on in back add sturdiness to the whole console. IKEA could learn from this. (see pic 4)
Tips:
> Install the doors with the top in first, then install the bottom. The bottom door hinge needs to be screwed in only after the door is in place. The instructions say to put the door in the bottom hinge then install the top hinge, but I found that harder to do. (see pic 5)
> There are two end wood panels that look identical and have identical numbers (stickers), but they belong on specific sides. You'll know they need to be switched if the bolt needs a pivot lock but there's no hole for them.
> Don't pull off stickers unless you have to. Only then use a solvent. The plastic veneer on the surface of the "wood" pulls off with the stickers. (see pic 2)
Cons:
> Stickers pull the veneer off. (see pic 2)
> A slip of the screwdriver and I nicked the wood. (See pic 7)
> The door hinge has a wide opening for the screw positioning. I found this to add difficulty rather than reduce it. (see pic 6)
