Solid Unit - Fair Price - Stellar Support
As others have said, it comes well packaged and as far as the exterior view it has good fit and finish. The controls operate smoothly and everything plugs in as it should, not too loose and not too tight.
The supplied IPT-60 torch head is fairly common and its variants can be found on many plasma cutters from various manufacturers & brands. There are different stacks available for it including drag tips, so be sure what you need and get the right parts when ordering/purchasing consumables. Also, there are available parts/consumables for the torch head that are made in Italy which seem to be of higher quality than the Chinese offerings.
Note that the torch head is of course the bit that will see the action and suffer the most abuse, especially if cutting thicker/harder materials. Blowback of intense heat and slag/dross while cutting thick materials will drastically shorten the lifespan of the consumables and the stack itself, and can quickly take a toll on the rest of the torch head. If you eventually replace the torch, make certain that the connections are identical, as not all manufacturers use the same interface to the machine.
These machines, as with the CUT50, are mass produced and based on a more-or-less standardized platform that is shared between a number of brands with minor variations on the controls/ports and cosmetic differences on the outer cases. The upside to that is that it is a proven platform and therefore for the most part a known quantity for performance. Internal parts should be fairly common and inexpensive. That being said, similar is not always the same. Some brands may opt for the absolute lowest end of specs and components for their units, or may even go for internals that are made of factory seconds and selling essentially disposable machines. Most likely with those you are going to get a shoddy unit and bad to non-existent customer service and support, and a big hassle or hit a brick wall dead-end if you encounter a problem. This is why choosing a brand is even more important, which brings me to my last point and the main reason why this brand has earned a 5 Star rating from me here.
As others have also pointed out and I can now attest to as well, Primeweld is focused on customer support. I had some difficulties and they were prompt to respond and sort it all out. They went far over-and-above what I ever would have expected, to a degree that you just don't encounter very often anymore. To be honest, their customer support is beyond what I would have expected from a uber high-end manufacturer's similarly capable unit priced in the +/- $3,000 range, and those can definitely have problems out-of-the-box too. I literally can't say enough about how amazed I was with the way they took care of my problem and their determination to do so. I would not hesitate to do business with them again, and will recommend them to anyone without reservation.
Final thoughts are that I do wish they offered more in the way of parts, accessories, and consumables on their own site, or at least more information on that aspect and some recommended replacements/suppliers. And of course getting the manual re-translated into more Englishy English would be nice, but really there isn't all that much to be concerned with in the manual. The basic functions are simple and straight-forward, and the do's & don'ts of common sense safety are adequate. The finer points of technique and such aren't typically going to be covered in a simple owner's manual anyway.
Hope that helps some folks. Please acknowledge if it does. Thanks
