Don’t fall for marketing gimmicks, get a Litter Champ! Side by side comparison of Litter Champ vs. Litter Genie.
I would give it more stars if I could, this thing lived up to my expectations on what I wanted and needed. I had the Litter Genie years ago when it first came out. I think I threw it away, regardless I knew I didn’t like. After doing some research I was looking for someone who did a side by side comparison of the Litter Champ vs. the Litter Genie, but couldnt find one anywhere. I know everyone has their own opinions and puts weight on the various things they value in products, but I wanted a true side by side. After reading tons of reviews and doing research it was clear that most people” loved” what they got (or knew). I am guilty of this too, as I went with what I knew originally. Of course when you are used to trash cans or taking the litter out every time someone goes, anything is better. I hadn’t ever heard of the Litter Champ until I started doing some research. I wanted to know what the main differences were, so I hope my video answered that, but here’s a quick break down- Litter Champ: • Larger capacity • All in one for easy transition from old bag to new (w/ a cutter or razor blade built into the door) no need to even bring scissors • Spring loaded top, helps seal in smells and easy to make deposits (plus it can lock to aide with cleaning) • Foot pedal, no hands needed to deposit (especially important if you scoop straight in) • Scoop and hook are much nicer and apart of the item • Latches actually stay shut and locked Litter Genie: • Latches wont stay shut and main compartment will open when trying to use their version of the spring loaded cutter • The cutter itself makes no sense at all, you are exposed to everything that has been sitting in there the minute you have bend over and use two hands to make a deposit (The smell kind of overwhelms you) • Have to use two hands to utilize the cutter and stabilize the Litter Genie • The cutter makes the Litter Genie’s capacity almost none existent • Made of cheap plastic and easily scratched • Scoop is a cheap add on that is connected by inserting the plastic hook into the inside of the main compartment • A nightmare to change bags and you waste so much bag • Better have scissors around, as this doesn’t have a built in cutter. • I’ve noticed if you use the cutter while putting litter straight in, it can get smashed into the device, causing it to smell and is almost virtually impossible to clean out. Litter Genie really does have the marketing power behind it, but it isn’t in the same galaxy as the Litter Genie. When it comes down to what matters; it’s all about how much can it hold so I don’t have to take it out all the time, smell, and lastly can I utilized the different components as it was intended? The answer to all of these for Litter Champ is-YES. As for Litter Genie, the answer is -NO. Litter Genie holds next to nothing, while the Litter Champ’s capacity was almost the entire Litter Genie as a whole. The smell through that cheap plastic that kept coming apart was unreal. Lastly, you can’t even use it properly. You have to have two hands to get the top open, so what do you do when you have just scoped, set it down?!?!?! Then you pour it in, thinking great I can pull the cutter to seal in the smell, then to your dismay, the whole bottom swings open and the smell almost makes you gag. Please feel to ask me any questions, I will try to help anyway I can.
