Originally bought "Large" size for my Golden but since she wasn't able to stretch out bought another in "XL" and put the other in a different room. While my Golden has been on her bed throughout the summer I was very surprised to see that both of my cats love it as well. These mats have stood up to being subjected to claws, rough play, being stepped on and still look brand new. I had bought numerous water filled cooling beds in the past but they were dreadful to fill, extremely heavy, and always ended up leaking at the seams. I like these so much better as they're ready to use immediately and easy to move. We've taken it in the cars for longer drives and packed it for travel in a suitcase as they're easily folded. I've even placed one on the bed and used it myself. Would very much recommend to anyone who has any companion animal as well as anyone who has any health condition making them unable to tolerate the heat. UPDATE: It's been a dangerously hot summer almost everywhere and I bought the "New & Improved" version of these pads. It's now even better! The gel is a little thicker providing supportive cushioning and cooling and the perimeter of the pads have a border that goes around adding extra support to the seams. My Golden and cats immediately took to them as soon as I removed them from the box as if they had been waiting for them arrive. They have been in continual use ever since. I still have the other "original" versions of this cooling pet pad I bought and despite being clawed by a 72lb Golden trying to "nest" and 2 cats , being stepped on, and moved around they have yet to leak and this new version is even better. I honestly can't recommend these beds enough. We have had a few electrical storms where the power has gone out completely for hours --NO FANS/ NO AIR CONDITIONING! These pads were invaluable to the animals (& me) during these times.
