Great tights.
First of all, these are TIGHTS. Don't confuse these with leggings, which hold the overall approximate length and only stretch somewhat. These are tights; they are closer to hosiery than leggings. When you pull them on, the crotch SHOULD only go about halfway up the thighs. You then treat them like hosiery, even though the material is thicker. That is, gently and gradually stretch the material upwards from your feet to ankles and so forth. Do NOT haul them up by the crotch; they will tear. The fabric is slightly tougher than hosiery, but not much. Like hosiery, these can run if you get a hole in them, but they don't snag as easily or run as easily once snagged. They will, however, snag on something rough and much more easily than leggings; don't complain about this. This is all normal and what you should expect in TIGHTS. Okay, so as far as expectations for tights go, they're great. They're mostly opaque but slightly transparent with fine vertical ribbing as a subtle pattern; the pattern isn't noticeable except up close and in decent lighting. They're quite soft and comfortable for tights as well. They're not overly binding either, even though they're "shaping" and "firming" (which they are, but not in the overly tight, almost scary way some tights can be). Also, being tights (and shaping ones at that), they are high-waisted. This means that the top of the tights are designed to stop roughly at the bottom of your ribs, which they do quite comfortably. You CAN position them lower, but they will cinch into your waist more obviously (it might work out if you stop them where your skirt/shorts stop) Speaking of which, they are very comfortable to wear and warming while staying breathable, which is a nice combo in thermal tights. Their knit CAN catch on some materials, so make sure to test how your skirt material interacts with the tights, so you don't get any accidental hitching up/flashing. BTW, personally, I'm just shy of 5'7" and run between a size 4 to an 8 (or usually a 7 in juniors, but sometimes 9), depending on the brand, so I'm what I would term a solid Medium; these tights fit comfortably, go on easily (for tights), and yet should easily fit someone a few inches taller or shorter and/or definitely several sizes either way. There's one downside: there's no front/back to these. They're the same each way. This means that you will relatively quickly stretch out a "heel" in the tights, so you should make sure that you wear them the same direction each time or you'll get a baggy spot on top of your foot (plus the overall fit isn't as nice, but the baggy heel spot is the worst and quickest difference). So, on the crotch pad, I'd recommend permanent marking an arrow to indicate the front. The lack of a back/front means there's no thicker material on the bottom of your foot for the inevitable heavier wear; for the price, that's a bit much to hope for anyway.
