It was a joy to read a complex character driven mystery that doesn’t ever feel forced or implausible toward the end. The chapters alternate between the viewpoints of the detective, the main suspect and the victim. The multiple points of view make it fast paced and add depth to the storyline. The characterizations all ring true and there are enough shades of gray in the actions and motivations to keep a reader intrigued and unsure about the outcome. Although it’s described as Book one of a series, it is a well written stand alone book with all plot lines tied up for a satisfying ending.
