When we set this up for my boy who is 18 months old, he had no idea what to do with it. His bigger sister picked up the bat and hit the ball and I said yeay, and clapped my hands for her. He was then immediately intrigued. Now he swings at the ball and says "Yay" and he is entertained for a while, usually until we get tired. Perfect for first timers in playing sports and great for learning practice. The only thing I wish is that the balls were soft so they didn't make so much noise in the house. I give a 4 star review but only because there is always room to make something better. I rarely give 5 stars to anything so...Hope this helps.
