THE B E S T ! And here's why...
THESE ARE SO FRIGGIN' F U N !
We bought the pack of 4. After researching all the laser blasters on Amazon, these were the best reviewed and most practical ones. After opening them up on Christmas morning, we went to dinner at the in-laws and after dinner, we and the kids went outside to play in the dark. The instructions are short and clear, and learning to use them took all of 2 mintues.
You can join other players as a team, or go rogue.
You have like 4 or 5 blaster style choices, which each have different sound effects, shots befpre reloading, and damage dealt (for instance: pistol mode deals one hit of damage and gives you 12 shots before having to reload; rifle deals 2 hits damage but only gives 6 shots before having to reload).
The lights and sounds are very clear and perfect for play, and the range is huge. We played after dark, and would run far enough away that we couldn't really see each other except for the lights on our blasters, and we could still see the ligts clearly (know who was on our team or not) and hit each other if we aimed really well and got a good shot. Your health left is indicated with rows of lights on your blaster. You can tell if you hit them by the sound and lights their blaster makes. When someone is out of health, the gun's functions shut down and the color indicator flashes - it makes it obvious for all to tell. If you're on a team, you can't accidentally hit your teammate and deal damage, which is really nice.
The guns are the targets! No wearing arm or vest things. And we tested them all up close and at different angles...it isn't too wide a bean (actual lazers, not just light beams), and not too fine either. Powerful and precise enough to aim at lomg distances, precise enough to have to actually hot right at the gun to score. Amazing!
They don't feel cheap at ALL. They're big and sturdy enough, but not heavy or awkward. Perfect size and weight for all ages. Players were 8 years old through 37 and we all had lots of fun.
Each blaster takes 4 AA batteries. I bought a 16 battery charger with rechargable batteries. It just doesn't make sense to invest your retirement in packs of AAs, right?
You re-load by pushing a wide button on the bottom of the handle (like where a clip would be). Nice and smooth, works every time.
Anyway, we absolutely LOVE THEM. I'm so grateful for the Amazon experience, because it made it so easy for me to figure out what product would be a great fit for us. The reviews system really works!
