Updated!! Replaced My Laptop and Tower!!! (Watch My Video For A Quick Demo)
I purchased my Tab S2 at Best Buy but I wanted to share my thoughts on Amazon. I'm not going to go over specs and such since you can read those in a hundred other places. Though I will say that the "new" version is preloaded with Marshmallow and now uses a Qualcomm octacore processor in place of the Exynos that shipped with the first gen. I decided to make a quick video of my Tab S2 8 and the accesories I use with it (keyboard, mouse, otg adapter, and usb hub). It is my hope that it will simplify the transiton for those of you that are not familiar with Android or haven't used a tablet before. I've replaced my laptop and desktop with the 9.7 and 8 inch Tab S2's. So far I've had no issue doing the things I used to do with my computer like: ms office, printing (wired and wireless), browsing the web, transferring documents etc to and from the device, and much more. I even mirror my Note 5 on the tablet using SideSync so I don't have to switch to my phone for calls and texts. Please watch the video to see how you can make a legitimit laptop/desktop replacement. If you have any questions feel free to ask and if you found the review to be useful please indicate so. Update: I noticed a post about the specific accessories I used in the review so I decided to list them out and you'll also see photos of each. I used a Samsung branded otg adapter, HP bluetooth mouse, JellyComb universal bluetooth keyboard, and a generic 4 port usb powered hub. I have used other otg adapters in the past without issue, but I still recommend the Samsung adapter. It has a better "feel" to it than the generics. Update: I recently received the Marshmallow update for my first gen 9.7 and now that I've had both tablets running the same OS for a while, I've noticed some minor differences. The new version running the Qualcomm seems to be just a bit more smooth than the Exynos. It also seems to have slightly better battery life, but that's a definite maybe since I'm comparing the new 8" it to the original 9.7. Other than that the two are virtually identical in terms of performance. I'll continue to update this review if I notice any more differences in the future. Update: I recently added a Samsung monochrome laser jet to my set up (model SL-M2835DW/XAA). If you're looking for a versatile printing solution you should check it out. I was able to print via otg adapter straight out of the box and I had wireless and cloud printing set up in a matter of minutes.
