One large doodle who's a month overdue for a groom + these clippers: The Corona Clip Follies
I started with a clean (that in and of itself deserves a story) and well brushed doodle, and still ran into some tangles and hidden mats. So it's super important to make sure a comb can go through easily before the clip. These clippers were quiet and easy to handle. My pup (not quite a year old, so extra bouncy) was not at all worried by them. They seemed to handle his super-long, fleecy/wavy/curly fluff pretty well. I haven't ever used clippers before and began to get the hand of long, slow "passes" but every now and then they would get caught by a tangle resulting in little "dent." I used the longest comb attachment, because one can always go shorter. After about 90 minutes, with a treat break or two, we both decided to take a rest. The charge meter said the battery was at 89%. After Round 1, he looks not completely terrible. We'll have another go later today, after another good brush-out. Clearly the professional groomer he goes to will not be put out of business by me, but I think we'll be OK until they can be back in business.
Getting the blade off to oil it took a bit of figuring out but then it was easy. Getting it back on was a little more work for me but I think that will be be easier over time. Clipping the combs in securely was easy - the one time I didn't have it on quite right, I could immediately tell by the increased clipper noise. I have small hands and the clipper was really well balanced and easy to use.
