Caution! InskinkErator is selling 2 versions of 1.0HP unit...make sure to buy Excel model
Bought this from Lowe's because I needed for install that morning. A word of caution when buying InSinkErator from Lowe's... InSinkErator is relabeling the Excel as the Prestige for "Lowe's only" sales at the same price as the Excel. I called InSinkErator customer service and asked them to explain the difference. They said that the Excel will remain as their high end disposal unit and the only material difference is due to the Prestige lacking the jam sensor. Unfortunately this information is not explicit on their web page. I bought one of the last remaining Excel units from Lowe's and they honored Amazon's price.
It looks like Home Depot is doing the same thing and calling it the Evolution Supreme SS.
To clarify, this is the description of what is missing in the Prestige:
Jam-Sensor Circuit™
The Jam-Sensor Circuit senses when a jam is imminent and engages, increasing rotational torque 500% while simultaneously pulsing 60 times per second. It also produces a powerful hammering effect that breaks through the toughest jams before you even notice a problem.
I highly recommend the InSinkErator Excel unit for as it quiet and known for being the black hole of home use disposal units. I do not recommend buying the Prestige unit because of the lack of feature at the same price as the Excel.
