Greatly improved over prior version. I had written a very negative review of this product previously. COMPARISON: While I don't know all the iterations over the years, for what I am familiar with I'd consider this version 3. I was always pleased with what I'd call version 1. It was a good mix of nutrition, in 1 scoop, and averaged around $30 a tub. Along comes 2.0, which suddenly needed a much bigger scoop (or 2) to get the same content, and the price was suddenly $50+. The flavors were off and the new proteins they used were very gritty and coarse. V3 here is significantly improved.One reasonable size scoop provides improved nutritive value (more protein, more vitamins) and far more greens. The flavors are better. The price is still a bit higher than I'd hope for a comparable product averaging around $45, so it is 50% more than its closest competitors such as Now Foods Tru Food Whole Food Vegan Meal, which can usually be found in the low $30 range. After posting my negative review of version 2 a few years ago, and having switched to the NOW product for those years, I recently was contacted by a rep at Vega. They kindly sent me samples of each of the flavors of their new formula and even a nice shaker cup! TASTE: The flavors are similar to the prior formulas, and they still have a bit of an aftertaste, attributed to the stevia. I like stevia as a sweetener and use it in other things anyway, so it doesn't bother me. It is less pronounced now though, and this version is a bit less sweet tasting, it is a good balance. The berry flavor is my favorite. The chocolate one is a bit chalky and reminds me of the canned slimfast shake - I wouldn't make it with water - milk would be ok, and adding a banana is a huge improvement. TEXTURE: The biggest improvement though is the texture. This new formula is much more finely ground. I always throw mine into a vitamix with other fruit, veggies, greens, etc, more as a supplement than as a meal right out of the tub, however for testing purposes I did try it with just water and with almond milk, and it mixed just fine. Overall, I am impressed with the new formula. When my NOW supply runs out, I'll be switching back to VEGA.
