Older model, same design -- Still going strong after almost two decades!
Searching for deals on replacement filters, noticed this model and felt compelled to weigh in after reading a few reviews.
I own the older version of same model -- dark instead of light gray -- and have been using it every dry, over-heated, NYC apartment winter for, wait for it... nineteen years! This thing has been in New York just about as long as I have and I've never been disappointed by its performance.
(insert your own disappointing performance joke here.)
Yes, the jugs are heavy when filled. Trade-off for not having to fill them as often.
No, you can't pick up the whole unit when full and move it around easily. My best air conditioner isn't too portable either.
It glugs when the water level in the reservoir allows water to drain in from one of the jugs to refill it. This is definitely noticeable, but I find it a comforting, easy-to-assimilate-into-sleep sound.
Now. If you can get past the above, here are two usage notes I hope you'll find helpful:
--Because of the physics behind keeping the right amount of water in the reservoir, the lip of each jug is narrow, so unfriendly to having a thick stream of water drumming straight down to fill it. Making the water stream a tiny bit narrower and less forceful fills it quickly and easily. You'll see the air bubble appear on the top side (under the handle) when it's close.
--Most important --You will need enough space on either side of the unit to be able to seat and tip in each filled jug from a horizontal or at least diagonal position. Result: No spills, no jostling of the base.
Hope this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship with your new Vornado humidifier!:)
