Despite some initial reluctance over the (small) size, I'm quite pleased with this humidifier. It replaces a much older cool mist humidifier with somewhat greater capacity, but what a difference! The Honeywell has no filter. Believe me, in a humidifier of this type, that's a good thing. They are bacteria and mold breeding grounds. You should clean and disinfect humidifiers regularly anyway, of course, but cleaning filtered units well can be harder, because scale tends to build up where they are located. If you can't get the scale out, you can't effectively disinfect! Plus, of course, no filters to buy ... that is, if you can even find the one that fits your unit. It's easy to fill. The entire top "bubble" just lifts off. Turn it over, take off the fill cap, fill, put the cap back on, and plop the bubble back on the base. That's it. Seconds. And no drip, with just a little care. It puts out! Instead of a vague, drifting wisp you might get with older units like the one I replaced, the Honeywell HUL520W puts out a nice mini-cloud of really well-atomized cool mist. I'm not getting any condensation around the unit at all. All of the moisture is going into the air. The simple control on the front is effective. While I don't have the need to turn it down, as I'm using it in a larger space, it's needed if you will be using it in a confined area. Cleaning and disinfecting is easy. Cleaned by running vinegar through and rinsing, there's nothing to disassemble. Nice-looking, too. Well done, and recommended.
