This is a great little heater for coffee, tea, hot cocoa, soup, or any other drink that needs only hot water to prepare. The only two points I'd consider a possible negative or at least something to be aware of are: 1. Instead of coming out the back as all the ones I've seen in the past do, the cord of this one comes out of the top. This isn't a problem if you can put the entire cord on the counter next to your mug or cup, but if the outlet isn't that close, the weight of the cord will tend to make this heater rather top heavy. 2. The description of the burn guard is wrong, it's purpose isn't to keep the heating coil away from the sides of the mug or cup you are heating the water in, instead its purpose is to allow you to lay the hot heater on the counter and the burn guard will keep the heating coils off the counter preventing the counter from being burned. My solution to that is to have a second mug or cup filled with cold water handy to hang the heater on with the coils in the water, the cold water will cool the coils down to a safe level rather quickly, then there is no danger of burning the counter top.
