I read ALL the reviews before buying this. I have had 2 or 3 cats my entire 50 years of life- I have owned most cat boxes over the years. Our newest kittens seem to be very stinky- and since we had the last ones for 18 years- I figured something new was out there. First- I wish this was bigger or came in an extra large size- they still manage to overshoot the box at times. I got the cheaper replacement pee pads and they work GREAT- ordered on Amazon. Also I tried every suggestion here- before writing this review. The pellets with this system are hard, bulky and didn't seem very foot friendly- and expensive- but the cats were fine with them- but they wouldn't bury the poop- and the pellets stick to it- so a lot got wasted. I tried the air pellet BB suggestion- and much more foot friendly- still stuck to poop- but seems less- even sprayed it all down and it works very well- but one cat seems to like it less- they bury it better with this- still wasted BB's cleaning box- but not bad. But now wasting plastic too. They do scatter BB's- again would be less if box was bigger. But this is a good suggestion and works well and in general not bad pricewise- I also bought these on Amazon. The pine litter pellets are softer, way cheaper, the urine causes the pellets to dissolve and drop down thru grate- (see prior review from EEEli on Sep 08, 2015 ). Right now I have combined these pine pellets WITH the BB's I already had in there- and it may be a good long term solution- they bury the poop and seem happy with this combination. I think the pine helps with the odor of the urine in the pad. The BB's add a softer touch too. With the two kitties- now a year old- I change the pad twice every 10 days. I tend to be home when they poop and I tend to just scoop it out when it happens-because I still can't stand the odor. I like this better than clay clumping scoop-able litter- because it doesn't get in big, gross, wet clumps that stick to the bottom. I like it better than the roll up side down box- because you need a lot of space for those. I like it better than the crystals that absorb the pee because it smells much less than that option- especially with two cats. For the pine litter I think this is ideal!! Because the "sawdust" drops down and keeps the box tidy. For now I will use my combo of air soft pellets and pine- and when the air soft pellets are gone, I will probably stick to just pine. If they come out with a jumbo size- I will buy that instead!
