Everything you need, nothing you don't...
Admittedly, I have a bias for Wacom devices because of previous bad experiences with similar, cheaper alternatives, and because of the lack of any means to test out device beforehand, it's incredibly likely that you will buy an expensive tablet, only to hate it within 5 minutes of using it.
Not to imply that Wacom devices are perfect by any means, as I've had my own share of woes of trying to support a whole design department, but half of the issue with some of these cheaper alternatives is simply their lack of proper software support, as forum posts troubleshooting drivers attest to any one model.
And unfortunately, because they are considered the industry de facto standard, and because there's nothing inherently special about Wacom tablets compared to the next model, it's really hard to constitute dropping $800 on a basic graphic tablet, when it should easily be half that price.
So that's why I was ecstatic to find that they released a ~$400 model, when previous CIntiq models would have set me back for twice that amount, the only difference being is that they removed any extraneous features, like utility buttons and a pen eraser. Otherwise, the Wacom One operates nearly identical to previous Cintiq models.
My only real complaints about the Wacom one is the fact they used a USB connection for power, when for all intents and purposes, they explicitly tell you NOT to use it with any USB port or power adapter besides their own, and even added an obnoxious block to the plug to deter people otherwise. And then there's the connection to the actual tablet that, despite appearing to be a USB-C connection, the plastic molding around the plug is keyed to fit going in only one direction, so the cable will always fall to the left, despite the USB-C standard specified to be reversible. If both connections are supposedly proprietary, why even use them?
