It may sound lame, but I'm going to go ahead and say it: This Thing Rocks! I don't know when I turned into an old man and got excited about things like garbage disposals, but apparently it happened. Let's set the stage: - I have an old, Kenmore 1/2 horsepower garbage disposal. - It is louder than a 747 taking off in my kitchen. - It grinds food about as well as throwing it in a bowl and trying to mash it up with a spoon. - It occasionally leaks around the gasket. After fielding multiple calls from my wife about how to clean up or unclog the disposal and hearing from my daughter that she's afraid of it because it's so loud, I finally realized it was time to replace it. My research took me through Kenmore, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, InSinkerator, you know...the usual suspects. When I started looking at the prices and comparing features at my local orange home improvement store, I started looking on Amazon. On Amazon, Waste King floated to the top. The reviews are incredible and they seem to offer a superior product for a better price and all with a better warranty. I decided to give things a try and replace my existing 1/2 HP disposal with the Waste King 2600 1/2 HP. I couldn't be more please. Everything arrive quickly (as expected from Amazon) and in great condition. All necessary parts were included. The only modifications I made were to remove the pre-wired cord and connect my BX wire from the previous disposal. I went back and forth on whether to get the EZ Mount or a standard 3 bolt mount. I went the EZ Mount route. I'm happy with the decision, at least on Waste King's part. The previous owner of my home elected not to use plumbers putty or a gasket and instead, decided to use silicone caulk. That was, needless to say, at very unpleasant surprise. Once I got the old flange out, the Waste King went in effortlessly. As others have stated, the parts all lined up perfectly with my existing installation with no need for modifications. On to performance... It is incredibly quite and my daughter is no longer afraid of the disposal. It doesn't leak. Period. Also, it absolutely destroys the food we put down it. We used to be afraid to put some potato or carrot peels down and now it gobbles them up. I'm not sure what you'd be feeding this thing to require more than 1/2 HP of power, but I'm guessing it must be a whole chicken or side of beef. This 1/2 HP one destroys everything. I seriously couldn't be more pleased.
