I bought this to be used solely as a grass sheer; don’t have any hedges. As I live in FL, grass grows by the minute, it seems! And my landscaper does a horrible job of edging (he now only cuts grass, weed wacks in spots. I do everything else). I’m also older, and didn't want to have to be bending over all the time, “cleaning up” my edges. I’m very fussy with how my garden spaces look. This device is terrific. I have been using it extensively through the last two days. Holds a charge well. Does a nice job of edging. I love that the sheer is adjustable to different angels. You can sheer along the edge, and then along the top of the edge or clean up spaces the lawn mower can’t get into. I have extensive landscaping, and this is like gold. Unlike when the landscapers edge and the grass goes all over into my nicely mulched garden (which I have just spent months mulching!), the grass simply falls at the edge and I can just blow or sweep it out. The tool is light, but the sheer has a little weight to it. So you need to spend a little time using it to get the “steering”/sheering just right (it has wheels on it). I really like that it is quiet. The only negative is that the power button at the top of the pole is tough to be constantly holding in while you are working, partially beause of the awkwardness with the weight being all at the bottom of the pole (the sheer). For me, since I have some arthritis in my hands, it causes fatigue in my thumb after a short time.
