We purchased this from Buy Buy Baby and I have grown to like it. We have a 1 year-old and our 2nd will arrive in 4 months. So a baby gate is critical! I am struggling with giving this a 4 or 5. I really think 4.5 is the best rating for our family. It is the best gate I have seen. We have had 3 others and this is the best and the most expensive. But, I do have a few cons. Pros + Looks really nice in our bonus room because it matches everything. The wood finish is very stylish. + The baby shakes it and it stays in place. + It seems very sturdy. + If you have the money "to spare" it is worth the buy. + I can hold her in my arms and still open the gate, but it is not the easiest thing to do. Cons - More expensive than many other gates because it looks nicer, better materials and is wider than most...good reasons to cost more :-). - The latch is a little loud to open and close. So if I am trying to sneak out for a few moments without her hearing me that is NOT going to happen. That click-click grabs her attention and she runs over. I wish it were not so loud. - We were not able to install it starting at the bottom of the floor, which you can see in the video. The base boards prevented us from being able to do that. Therefore, we have to step over the bottom of the gate to walk-through it. That annoyed me to no end when my husband originally installed it. But, it has been at least 3 months and I have gotten used to it. Thus is life...:-) We also purchased and installed the Kidco Safeway white G2000. I have a review on that as well. This is definitely of better quality. Even though that gate does the job. We purchased a Babies R Us gate that definitely competes with this, but this gate is more stylish. The foot petal doesn't work with the Babies R Us gate. I think we have something installed incorrectly so this gate still wins. It is working well and in good shape.
