My 8 year old has never liked the vibrating toothbrushes because they irritated her gums and after a couple days would turn them off to brush her teeth. She loves this toothbrush which is soft enough to throughly clean her teeth without hurting her mouth. She likes the little hourglass sand timer and her own personal cup to rinse her mouth after brushing. It says "electric". This one uses 2AA batteries which I prefer rather than leaving something else plugged in the bathroom. Because the set comes with several animal choices it is easy to find one most children would like. The toothbrush is also lighter than any we have purchased previously and is therefore easier for a child to manipulate to reach all of their teeth.
