Updating this information. After going to the California Board of Air Quality lists of air purifiers, Renpho is indeed listed as a mechanical air purifier and is not an electronic one which means that it is indeed ion free. Very concerned for those, who like me, already suffer from lung disease and need to be sure that the air purifier being used in homes is ion free. Sigh of relief!
