I was thinking this was the week that I was going to have to put my 14 yr old German Shepherd down. Harro is a retired police dog and has known too many days filled with strength, skill and prowess. To see him like this was killing me. I couldn't look him in the face because he was STILL having his good moments full of personality and fun mischief. Yet in the morning his hip displaysia and arthritis were getting the better of him and he had started to drag his left hind leg and his other rear leg wasn't strong enough so he was falling over and couldn't get up even a few stairs without looking at me nervously for help. We are still in a time where Harro still has good moments and is LIVING LIFE. I knew it wasn't a selfish thing - the survivor in him wasn't ready to leave yet. But I hurt for his loss of dignity and was pressed not to stand by and let him diminish into a helpless cripple dragging himself thru the wet mud and waste. When the time comes I am ready to do the right thing by my partner....but we aren't there yet, so I bought this leash and it has made all the difference!!! It really is easy to put on my dog and it seems suprisingly accepted and comfortable to Harro by the look on his face (wonder what he would say if he could write this review:). He has been really chipper the last couple of days because he is able to walk around and go to the bathroom in dignity....he has even gotten a little sassy with the support and was trying to get some speed up today and I had to tell him to slow down FOR ME!!! If you are feeling like I felt then definitely BUY THIS LEASH and give it a try. You won't be sorry. I know Harro and I don't have much time left together....but what time we have left will be QUALITY time and my buddy will go out with dignity he deserves at a time when he is a little more ready to go.
