Gets the job done
My electric dryer died a while back so I ordered this clothesline to hold me over till I can replace it. It's aluminum with plastic lines but it seems sturdy enough. When I took it out of the box, I thought it was a little small but it holds a full load of clothes with room to spare. I have a 7.5 cu. ft. front loading washer and I run it full. I usually have two lines completely empty on this clothesline. I'll have to be creative to hang large sheets but I think it will work even for that. I like that I can set up the clothesline in the backyard when the weather's nice or put it in the garage or even inside the house if it's raining. The legs are a little bit long but I can actually fit the clothesline in my master bathroom or walk-in closet if needed. I was a little concerned about how my neighbors might feel about a clothesline but this one is so compact that it's pretty discreet. No complaints from anyone so far. The "tiers" are very close together which gives you a lot of hanging space in a small area but I think the clothes in the middle would dry faster if the lines were farther apart so more air could circulate. I guess time isn't much of a factor when you're line drying though. The only other complaint I have is that the top piece snaps into the base so the clothesline doesn't "spin". That means when you're hanging clothes, you have to constantly walk around the thing which is not too bad in the yard but if you're inside in a tight area, it would be nice to just be able to turn it in place. A few reviewers have commented that the clothesline tips over too easily. I wonder if they had the legs fully extended right. I'm not in an incredibly windy area, but I actually tried to tip it over and it stood firm. I've also had two preschoolers running around it playing hide and seek in the laundry and never had an issue with it wobbling. I will eventually replace my electric dryer, but I expect that I'll continue to use this clothesline for most things. Line drying isn't for everyone but overall, I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone who's in the market for a portable clothesline, especially if space is a concern. *****Update***** As fate would have it, not long after I posted this review, the wind blew my clothesline over. As I was standing it back up, I tripped and fell breaking one of the legs on the tripod base. I was able to "splint" the broken leg and use rocks and sandbags to stabilize the clothesline but just for grins, I e-mailed the manufacturer to see if it was possible to buy a replacement tripod. Within an hour, I got an e-mail back from them apologizing for the accident and letting me know that they were sending me a replacement base at no charge. I should have it in a couple of days. Customer service is not dead!
