UPDATE: This was not a passing fad for my Elmo. He happily snuggled up on this pad all last winter. He is very expressive and acts more like a dog that a cat a lot of the time. If he felt like being cuddly he would pull his pad over to the couch and look pointedly at it, and then the couch so that we’d put it on the couch for him. If I had any doubt that it reflected heat back to him those doubts were alleviated when the temperatures warmed up. As soon as spring hit he started ignoring the pad and pushed it out of the way so he could lay on the wood floor by his box of catnip toys. I stored it under the entertainment center and pulled it out as soon as fall hit. He started laying on it a week ago, all cuddly and cute as a button 😍 At this price, I am going to but a couple more to scatter around the house so he always has a warm place to rest his old bones. I was hesitant to buy something else for my picky 11 year old cat to lay on/in because he seems to prefer boxes, old duffle bags, and nothing at all. However, he is getting arthritis in one of his paws and I wanted something to help heat up his old bones if he was so inclined. I am SO HAPPY I took a chance because he LOVES this! He is hesitant to try new things unless there is catnip involved so I sprinkled it with catnip so he would get on it. Once he felt the warmth being reflected back at him, he was hooked. I was worried the crinkle would upset him, but it’s very subtle and he doesn’t seem to mind it at all. He is a BIG boy (healthy weight of 18lbs...so more the size of a small dog) and he has room to stretch out.
