I don't use shampoo, and I haven't for...like...a decade. I also have thick and curly hair. I've used several of these "massagers" over the years to scrub product and dead skin off my scalp, and most of them have been HUGE disappointments. Some have bristles so bendy they don't even REACH my scalp, or feel like a light tickle (you know that's not scrubbing anything). Some are SHARP. Like...I worry I'm going to bleed....Some straight up destroy my hair...it feels like I've gotten gum suck in my hair. Some have these cracks or holes in them that just invite water to hang out and cause mold. And lastly, some bristle pallets just separate away from the base. This one is different. It's sturdy enough, and pointed enough (POINTED, not sharp) to scrub at my scalp, but not destroy it, or my hair in the process. It's fits in my hand really well, which is nice, and it's pretty tightly sealed, so water won't get into the base. I'm REALLY happy with this purchase :)
