Worthy of all 5 stars
At first I was a bit skeptical about LED bulbs in general, not entirely convinced that they could perform or that the reviews were legit, and although I've only had these installed for a day, so far they're awesome (I purchased the H11s as low beams for a '13 Impreza). I'll plan to update my review in 6 months or so to report on how they're lasting. The light is a cool white, and I've definitely noticed that I have better visibility over short and medium range (the low-beam cutoff being the only thing that makes them less useful over long range), and especially on the sides of the road. So far noone has flashed their brights at me for blinding them, which I'm happy about.
Pros:
* These things are definitely bright. I installed one of them and compared the brightness (see attached image), and the difference is night and day. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the high beams become less relevant with these things.
* Easy Instrallation. Not sure why they call in a conversion kit, they're pretty much plug-and-play. Large heatsink may pose problems in some vehicles, but in my '13 Impreza doesn't put a housing around the back of the bulb, so they fit no problem.
Cons:
* The heatsink doesn't conform to standard H11 shape/size which could pose an installation problem for some vehicles.
* Fans are a possible point of mechanical failure. I'll update my review in 6 months or so with how they're doing, but they do seem like a risk to me, especially where they're just out in the open in my engine compartment where dust, water, road salt, etc. are free to get into the fan and cause problems.
** Update: I've been using these for two and a half years on three different vehicles and they're all running strong.
Other Thoughts:
* I'm not 100% convinced the fans are 10k RPM, I would expect them to be higher pitched if that were the case. Doesn't really matter, as they kept the lights cold over the half hour drive I took this afternoon.
* Some other reviewers had noted a flicker with the bulbs. Wasn't a problem for me so far.
* There isn't a picture of the whole bulb and wire harness assembly, so for those wondering, the bulb is connected to a controller board with about 2-3" of wire with anoter 2-3" of wire from that to the final connector for whatever bulb type you choose. The controller board is around 2" long x 1/2" wide by 1/8" deep, and the length of all of the wires provides some room to tuck everthing away neatly.
* The fans do make noise that can be heard with the engine off, but it's really not loud or annoying at all.
* I attached an image of the lights at night, with an image of both the (new) low beams with high beams on as well for comparison.
