Review to help with sizing!
I'm leaving this review to help with sizing. If you read all the other reviews, you may be as confused as I was. I read everything from "fits just right" to "size up a whole size" to "size up a size and a half." Since we were on a deadline for my daughter's special event, I ordered 3 pair and when those were all wrong, quickly ordered 2 more! I now have 4 pairs of shoes to return.
Hopefully, our aggravation will end up helping you.
My daughter's actual foot is around size 6.5-7. HOWEVER, she wears an 8.5 in athletic shoes for comfort, due to high arches. So, we started with sizes 8.5 and above. Those were all too big.
We then ordered in a 7 and 8. The 8 is the one we're sticking with.
All this being said, I measured all the shoes, so that future buyers could hopefully zero in on the ones they need without all this hassle.
Keep in mind that I measured across the soles of the shoes, and I measured all the way to the very end of the rubber - not just where your foot would fit in - but the extra mold of the rubber too. The shoes measure as follows:
Labeled size 7:
10 1/8" long and 3 5/8" at widest point
Labeled size 8:
10 7/16" long and 3 11/16" at widest point
Labeled size 8.5:
10 3/4" long and 3 11/16" at widest point
Labeled size 9:
11 1/16" long and 3 3/4" at widest point
Labeled size 9.5:
11 1/8" long and 3 7/16" at widest point
Aside from sizing, I will add that these shoes do not have arch support and when we tried to add an insole, it made the shoes too tight. They do have a pretty cushioned insole, just not an arch support.
Also, the shoes are every bit as shiny as they appear on the computer screen. I will caution that the tongues of the shoes are very stiff because of the metallic outer material. Sometimes, just pulling the laces out of the top two eyelets will help you get your foot in comfortably. Because of the stiff material, they do make a little bit of noise when you're moving around. So, I wouldn't recommend them if you're going to be wearing them in a super quiet environment. For a dance, they'd be fine.
The only complaint I have other than the sizing being so hard to figure out is that the pair we are keeping have laces that are two different widths. This close to our event though, we're just going to keep them.
I hope this helps somebody!
