Read the manual for the different settings!
I was asked to review this product and received it for free for testing purposes. It's packaged in a really nice storage box that will last the life of the machine unless treated roughly, so your machine will never have to be just laying around with its parts everywhere. I was impressed to see the care that was put into this. There is even a pink satin fabric over the inside of the box that the machine rests on. Nice! It feels fancy like I just got something to spoil myself with. The manual said I need to use a gel product with this and didn't realize it until after the machine came, which delayed my immediate use of it. Also, the manual isn't super clear about what type of substance you should use with the machine. It talked only about a weight loss gel or cellulite gel. Why would I use (or even want to use) that on my face? I took my questions to the seller who responded within 24 hours. She said she uses essential oils and other lotion-type substances with the machine. I used coconut oil for the purposes of my testing. The machine is weighty-feeling in your hand. It doesn't feel cheap or poorly made. It does several things. It took me a minute to find the power button. I mean, it's RIGHT THERE on the face of the unit under the big round metal thing, but it seemed like the ON button would be on the side where the intensity is and that 0 would be OFF. Not true. I thought at first it didn't work and then I found the RED POWER BUTTON. It's very important to read the manual when using this type of machine or you will feel like it doesn't work. You'll plug it in and go hmm, it's not doing anything. It really is. You can do the water test. Put a drop of water on the round metal thing and turn the unit on in Sonic Mode. You'll see the water droplet vibrating at very high speed. If it doesn't, check your intensity setting on the side. It must be set to at least 1. Zero is an adjustment setting and thus does nothing, but hold the machine in stasis. The machine isn't noisy. Only over certain areas can you feel the very light and fast vibrations. That said, please follow the directions in the manual for length of treatments because you can definitely feel where you have treated yourself for several minutes after the treatment ended. If new to machines like this, I recommend not even starting with a full treatment at first. Just go for a minute or so and gradually increase so you don't make yourself uncomfortable. Thirty minutes after 1-minute use on my arm and I could feel I did something there. I am new to this kind of machine, but not new to EMS type functions. I gotta say the infrared takes a minute to heat up, but it's wonderful. It doesn't get hot at all, so that's not a concern, but has a nice, gentle warmth. It's subtle and comforting. It's just enough to keep the machine from feeling cold on your skin. The manual has some scary warnings, like don't use if you have cancer, but my sonic toothbrush did too. In fact, the sonic part of this works very much like my sonic toothbrush. My sonic toothbrush gives me a toothache. The sonic on this kind of made my surrounding bones ache. If you are a sonic toothbrush wimp, like me, then you may just want to use the infrared and the EMS. You can use the Sonic and the Infrared at the same time, which is really nice. Oh, the best part! The EMS. If you've ever used a TENS unit, the EMS is very much like that. It has these gel-backed pads (the old TENS unit I used had foam pads you'd have to wet) that stick very well and these super cool snaps. No more scary, experiement-looking wires lol. Okay, maybe your TENS unit wasn't terrifying-looking, but mine was lol ATTENTION: Keep the clear plastic things that come off of the little pads because you'll need to put them back on to cover the sticky gel pads, so they don't stick everywhere when you're done. There is even an extra set of gel pads! These gel pads for the EMS feel nice and cool going on, just like the wet pads from my old TENS unit. Set the machine on its lowest settings! 0 is nothing at all. You can use that when the machine is on to adjust your other settings. So set the machine on 1 for your first time. And don't just say, "Oh, it feels okay now, so I'll turn it up." No, you'll want to do it for about a minute on 1 and then take it off and rest and see how you feel for the next few mins. If you can handle that, then next time, go longer. I'd go gradually, especially if you have never used a TENS unit. TENS unit people will find some familiar comfort with this function of the machine. To summarize: -READ THE DIRECTIONS for all the functions. Don't skip this step. You might think your machine doesn't work if you skip this step. -The POWER button is red and on the face of the machine. If it's not lit up, it's not on. -If you have the power on, but the intensity button on the side is set to zero, you'll think it doesn't work. Turn it to 1 for the lowest setting. Think of the 0 setting as your changing features button or your pause button. -You CAN add the other features on the fly, but not EMS. That's its own thing. -The sonic massaging and scrapping are very subtle and will not make an audible sound (or if it does, my hearing aid didn't pick it up). You will only feel its action over certain parts and even then it will be subtle. It's vibrating, but not like a vibrator would. This is very high speed vibrating, so if you use it on your neck, it's not going to feel like a typical neck vibrator. But make no mistake... you will still feel the effects minutes later. Start with 1 minute on the lowest setting and work your way up, so you can make sure the effects are not uncomfortable for you. Just because it's quiet doesn't mean it's not doing tons of stuff in your body. -TENS unit people will enjoy the EMS function of this machine. For me, it's the best part. A close second is the gentle, sweet infrared. Set EMS to 1 if it's your first time and just do a minute to start out and then work up. I'm not kidding. This isn't hype. It's common sense and is experience talking. I had no idea machines had advanced this much since the old TENS unit I used to use. I'm still kind of amazed. The old TENS unit was a big, black, scary-looking box. This machine is so pretty and nice and doesn't look intimidating at all. Gotta love the advance of technology. I'm happy to try to answer any questions. I almost wonder if other reviews saying the machine doesn't work, were people who had it on 0. It almost got me for a minute, even for the water test. This is why I say the manual is so important. I hope this helps people who are trying to use this nice machine.
