Cheap thrills and solid data!
I've only had the BAFX reader for about a week now. But so far it does pretty much everything that I expected it to as far as pulling vitals from my 2013 tacoma. It's worth noting is that there are a plethora of Apps to use this reader with, but only a few that have any real history behind them. I chose to use Torque Pro, which is definitely one of the more popular platforms out there, and only cost $4.95 through the Google Play store. So, after everything I have less than $25 into this setup, which is a fraction of what a Scanguage or Ultraguage would cost. Not to mention this setup is wireless, and I can log/save trip data through Torque pro which can easily be transfered to my PC for further analysis if needed. -I am still on the fence as to how accurate the MPG guages are, and will report back if I see anything that's completely off. -HP doesn't seem to be completely accurate, but hard to confirm without a dyno. At WOT it shows that my engine is only making 107HP, and the throttle% shows only 82% - This could be the reader, but I guess it could also be the factory ECU tune on the 4.0 Although I am digging the device and App, it would be great if the instructions came with some generic instruction around creating Custom PID's, or maybe a link to a youtube page with this type of info. I know it's a little in depth, but anyone who's really using this tool will want the most days they can get, and in my case I had to research/write code to see the Trans Temp, TC Temp, and I'm sure there are a few outputs that I don't even know about yet. This isn't so much a knock on the product, but rather an opportunity to do more! All in all an awesome little device that gives you a ton of great data on your vehicle, while leaving money in your wallet for more upgrades!
