I walked into a Cartier store about a year ago thinking, "Jay Z sings about these guys a lot, but I don't know much about them". Quickly, I realized that I was not the target clientele that Cartier was marketing too but thought, if I wanted to get my foot in the door, where would I start? I figured that pens might be a decent price point. Wrong. Choking on my gum seeing the price of a Cartier fountain pen being around $700, I asked the sales associate, "Excuse me sir, pardon my ignorance, but what is the advantage of this $700 Cartier pen over my $2.50 G2?" He adjusted his cuff link, swallowed, said, "Um, well, uh, you see", then pushed a few papers to the side, looked at the $700 pen and gently said, "Well, you know, that, uh, well...the G2 is a really good pen". That is why I use the G2 rather than what Jay Z tells me to write with.
