Okay, let's be frank. This doohickey is expensive, but so is repairing the damage from the destructive behavior of some cats. I love my cats, but they don't all love one another. Their hatred for one another eventually devolved into a contest to see who could take over the territory that is my child's closet by continually peeing in the corner. I cleaned it to repeatedly, using appropriate products to neutralize the odor, only to have them repeat the process the next day. My kiddo could no longer play in his room, and the smell was so strong that it hit you the second you walked in our front door. Finally, I closed the kiddo's door and ordered the Ssscat, recalling many hilarious videos of its effectiveness on YouTube. I waited until it arrived and I had a few hours and I pulled up the carpet, cleaned the floor with Nature's Miracle, dried it out, replaced the befouled sections of carpet, and then popped batteries into the Ssscat and set it up so any curious feline going towards the closet would get a blast too the face. The cats contentedly played in his room and watched my progress all day. I was the only one who set off the Ssscat. Then, it was bedtime. Kiddo got all snuggled into bed and was just drifting off when my husband heard a loud crash and ran into his bedroom to find that, lo and behold, a cat had wandered into the closet to leave a message, only to get a very serious message from me! One of the other cats then tried it a few minutes later, only to come flying out of the bedroom like a bat out of... Well, you know where. Since then, none of the cats have gone anywhere near the closet and my house now has the normal level of cat aroma you would expect for a household with too many damned cats, but well-maintained litter boxes. I couldn't be happier. Overall review: this thing is absolutely worth the price. I only wish I had thought too set up a motion activated camera to capture the cats' responses to watch later, because, honestly, after all the damage they caused, I can't pretend that seeing them terrified by some pressurized air wouldn't be totally satisfying.
