First, there are many brands of this style silicone popper, and I suspect they all work about the same. I chose this particular one based on .... the colors available. LOL. Had to have purple. I did read reviews first, too. It took me about two weeks to find the perfect set of conditions for popping, and now I am completely satisfied. Currently, I use no oil for popping, Redenbacher popcorn only, filled to first line, at 3 minutes on my 1100 watt microwave. Generally around 10 kernels left unpopped. It pops to about 2" below the top. No scorched or burned popcorn. Perfect, fluffy, tasty popcorn. I use a few sprays from a can of butter flavored canola oil popcorn spray, just enough for some powdered seasoning to stick to it. Very happy. Prior to figuring out the perfect times and popcorn brands, I did experience burnt kernels, scorched popcorn, and excessive unpopped kernels. I tried several brands, before deciding the more expensive Redenbacher was best. I tried different power settings and times, as well as varying between the first and second line and in between. The optimal results were what I listed above. I recommend doing the same, experiment until you find the perfect settings/brands. The main variable here will be the microwave oven you use. Once you find the perfect combination of filling line, time, and brand, you will have perfect popcorn every time!
