Expensive? Good luck trying to make your own then.
Love the way it looks. Easy to assemble. If the pump is noisy make sure it has water covering it COMPLETELY and that the pump is not causing the wires to vibrate against the metal water tank. You can also line the tank with inexpensive silicon pads since it can tend resonate on hardwood floors when the level gets low. We have used this for 5 months 24-7 with distilled water and have had zero algae or water spotting problems on the mirror. In the winter with gas heat we had to fill it with nearly a gallon of water every other day but we had 20% humidity levels inside. We love it.
