I have tried just about every product out there to help my senior dogs. I have Basset Hounds and their short legs make finding something even more challenging. Booties and socks don't stay on, the nail grips don't work because their pads are thick and the nails don't hit the floor like other breeds and the stick on grips last about 15 minutes before they fall off. I decided to give Pawfriction a try and once you get the hang of how to apply it, it works great! The trickiest part is applying the adhesive. You need to make sure your dog's pads are trimmed so their fur doesn't stick out otherwise the fur sticks to the adhesive rather than the rubber granules. I found that having my dogs lie down is easiest because it makes it easier to work on the bottom of their feet. The big challenge is if your dog doesn't want you playing with his feet and jerks it around while you are trying to apply the adhesive. The first time I ended up getting the adhesive on them, me, the floor, etc. which means I subsequently had blue granules stuck to the floor and myself in addition to the dog - and believe me, it is not easy getting the granules off of your skin. Once the adhesive is applied I found that pouring the granules in my hand and then pouring them over the dog's feet and patting lightly works the best. You then have to wait a couple of minutes and you are done. I only applied it to their back paws since it is their back end that has problems slipping on the vinyl floor but it has made a significant difference for them and now that I have the hang of it, re-applying it every 5-7 days is no big deal. Just FYI, I found that I had far more granules than adhesive and if you go to Pawfriction's website you can order additional adhesive tubettes so the granules don't go to waste.
