This thermometer worked great initially. I didn't have a thermometer previously, so I loved being able to check the internal temperature of meat rather than cutting in apart to check for doneness. I also use this for making yogurt. It quickly provides an accurate temperature and is very easy to use. My issue with this product is after washing multiple times, it quit working. I opened the battery compartment and found corrosion. I have never submersed the thermometer, but I do wash it by hand in the sink. It seems the battery compartment should be better designed to prevent water from getting in as the entire unit will need washing. Edit 4/23/17: The seller contacted me after writing this review. They offered a replacement as it was still under warranty. I'll certainly be more careful to avoid getting water in the unit; it may be best to wash only the probe under running water and then wipe the handle/display with a damp cloth or Clorox wipe. I am very happy with their customer service.
