Great heating, fanning, and filtration in a tiny package
I bought one and I liked it so much I ordered a second one the same week. I've been running it a bit more than a month and so far it's been awesome.
I previously had 3 Germ Guardian air filters, 2 Vornado tower fans, and 1 Vornado space heater. I replaced all of them with two of these Dyson fans and reclaimed SO MUCH space in my apartment. They fit nicely on top of a dresser or in a hallway. The space savings and cable management alone is worth it but the Dyson fanning, filtering, and heating beat out the old gear in every category.
I turned off the wifi feature and I don't use the app at all, so I can't comment on those bits. But I did appreciate that YOU CAN TURN OFF THE WIFI so your fan does not join a mirai botnet or try to blackmail you.
Top features so far:
- Heats a small bedroom in about 10 minutes
- Prevented my wife from getting dust allergies when cleaning (she even commented on this to me)
- Wife doesn't complain about the fan noise (she did with the Vornado fans)
- Night mode makes the display dim enough to sleep next to
I was curious how much running this 24/7 would cost me so I hooked up a P3 P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor. On fan 5 (medium) it uses just 14 watts -- less than a light bulb. When I turned on the heater it used a whopping 1400 watts! That's 100 times the fan 5 setting! Watch out for that electric bill if you use the heater frequently. In my area running the fan 24/7 at speed 5 costs me about $2/month. Running the heater for 8 hours costs me $2.50.
Here's a table of the measurements I took:
- Fan 5 + heater 1350W
- Fan 10 43W
- Fan 9 35W
- Fan 8 28W
- Fan 7 22.5W
- Fan 6 18W
- Fan 5 14W
- Fan 4 11W
- Fan 3 8.5W
- Fan 2 6.5W
- Fan 1 5.5W
