Great Quality for it's Intended Use
I was initially hesitant because several reviews described this impact driver as under powered or failure prone. For that reason I spent the extra $3 for the three year protection plan so I could have it replaced if it failed.
I read reviews for several other brands of impact driver including Ryobi, Rigid, Dewalt, etc. All of them had a few bad reviews and most of them were for the same types of things. There was not a higher instance of failure with any of the brands, judging from the reviews. This one is about half the cost of some other brands so I went with it. I have not been disappointed.
I've had it for about 2 months and have driven around 300 deck screws 3-1/4" long. As far as I can tell, most of the negative reviews were written by people who thought they were buying an automotive grade electric impact wrench not a carpentry impact driver. Impact wrenches and drivers are not the same thing. This would be fine for light mechanical work on a bicycle, motorcycle, or smaller parts of a car or truck, but if you were using hand tools and you couldn't remove a bolt with a 3/8" ratchet, you probably shouldn't be trying to remove it with this tool either.
So far I've framed up two bedrooms, half a bathroom, and a small hallway with this tool. The only time it falters is when the battery is getting weak. I'll be rebuilding stairs and a deck in the spring. If my review is still 5 stars after May of 2019 then it's still going strong.
