AN ALL PURPOSE NATURAL MIRACLE!
This product is like an all purpose miracle! I buy the food grade, always, as I feed it to my cats and dog for a significant help in treating fleas. I also dust them with it if I happen to see a flea on them. I think I have the most flea-free animals in the neighbor hood. I give it to tiny kittens, as well as to their mother, so they will get an additional boost while nursing. I start them off with tiny amounts in their 'wet' food (canned), and they don't even know it's there.
It works internally by killing off larvae. Works on tapeworms, too. Since dusting them with it and rubbing it into their skin protects from fleas, there is no need to buy those flea collars, shampoos, etc. that are filled with strong, noxious chemicals that I would never use on MY body, therefore why use it on my beloved animals? I wash the dog with my Pantene shampoo! He smells good, and has no poisons seeping into his skin.
It works ALL OVER the house as a flea and general purpose natural 'creepy-crawler' deterrent. No more 50$ a month for the exterminator to come! I have been using DE for 3 years now, and there are NO bugs in my house. Just puff-spray it around baseboards, in cabinets, drawers, ANYWHERE creepy-crawlers might lurk, and you are able to stick your hand in a cabinet or drawer without fear of grabbing a nasty bug, too! My former exterminator told me that they use DE in one of their products for pest control.
Just a pound or two will last a LONG time. I have to say that when I first used it, I didn't know the proper way of application, and my carpets looked like a snowstorm had made it's way through the house! Don't do that. Get one of those squeeze puffers with a nozzle to pinpoint it right where you want it. Behind the stove and fridge, in the washroom, bathrooms, baseboards, whatever.
Please be very care not to blanket your carpets with it!! 1. It isn't necessary 2. It is hard as the dickens to vacuum up, and will clog your vacuum cleaner in a heartbeat! And if it should happen to get wet, replace it. Not good for your purpose any more. But still not toxic.
The way it works is fascinating. If it gets on a bug, for instance if he crawls through it, it will go in to his system, and since the DE is a natural product that won't harm you or yours (!), don't worry, but it's death to the critter. The DE is a natural product of the earth, but it's formulaic shape is crystalline, with razor sharp edges that work on the bugs internal organs and kills them. I can almost tell if I do see a bug, that it has walked through the DE, because he will be very slow and lethargic, barely able to crawl, and usually trailing pieces of leaves, string, whatever, behind him.
I ALMOST feel sorry for the creature, as I AM one of those Boomer Tree Huggers, but I don't want the things on me or my critters, or my grandbabies who crawl around on the carpet. There are a zillion places to look at what and how it works if you just 'Google' it. In the meantime, I cannot sing it's praises loudly enough! I read somewhere that even adult humans put a teaspoon a day into juice or whatever and drink it as a supplement for their own digestive system.
Please try it. It truly works!
