Convertible Top window fix
I used it to re-adhere the rear window on my 2005 Mustang GT/CS. Step Primer I also used 3M 08682 Single Step Primer after alcohol prepping the glass. I did it in March and it is now August and still holding. We have had multiple rains, many days over 100F degrees (Texas Heat) and I put the top up and down multiple times a day and everything is still in tact. I have even taken it through multiple car washes to put it to the test and still no leaks.
As others have said, the key is to take your time and allow for full cure. I was also able to find a clamp that uses a suction cup on the glass to pull the glass and top material together very tightly. They are typically sold 6 to a pack for around $30 and are typically used to hold windshield molding, trim, badges to the automobile while the adhesive cures. Here are a few I found....[the one I used] Molding hold down tool (gtglass.com), suck on clamp (btbtool.com), suction clamp set (ariestools.com).
I paid for the 3M Urethane, 3M Primer and two sets of the clamps, let my car sit in my garage for 72 hours and it was tons cheaper than any quote from a window/convertible top repair company (most say the only way to fix it is to replace the whole top). Win for DIY'ers....thanks 3M and Amazon community feedback under this product.
