Worth the investment
First; I did not get this free to review. I took a chance and invested $$ praying this would work and I wasn't just flushing my hard earned money down the toilet. Overall: 5 stars for 1) the beauty of no more clay all over my floors and house, 2) love just pulling out the pad and tossing it rather than clawing out clumped up litter. 3) it doesn't smell like a litter box, it really doesn't! 4) I'm not inhaling clay litter dust when adding new or emptying used. 5) solid waste is dried for easy disposal and it doesn't small as long as with clay litter. 6) not hauling 30 pounds of clumping litter in and out of the house regularly 7) eco friendly I have 4 cats and was tired of the litter all over the floor. I found some in my bed and lost my mind! Something had to change. I'm sleeping in cat doodoo! As it turned out, this was worth the investment - sort of. I've had the box for over a month now and here is what I've learned; After reading the reviews, I bought the BB soft ammo pellets and the puppy training pads. I kept both boxes side by side, transferred waste over to the purina box, had a stand off over emptying the clumping box, etc etc etc. 2 of the cats in this house (thankfully mine) were OK with using it but preferred the clumping box. One cat, the only one declawed, refused to use the Purina. My fear was that the litter hurt his paws too much as, unlike the title, soft ammo is not soft in any way. Then I remembered one review spoke of using dried beans for litter. What a fantastic idea! How biodegradable is that?!? Guilt free disposal and softer on the paws than tiny plastic bullets. Love it! I mixed the beans into the litter already in the box and I have a litter box the cats are willing to use to go #2 in with no clay on my floor or bed hooray! As for the solids sticking to the litter; the pellets sold with the system are DEHYDRATING pellets. Leave the solids in the box a few more hours until it's not sticky and the pellets won't stick. When it's time to change out the litter I'm going to go to just purina pellets and beans and not bother with the ammo. As for the pads, the puppy pads have to be folded to fit which concerns me because I'm afraid when I slide the drawer back in, the pad will move out of place. Aside from that, they are cheaper and they work fine but I'll buy the Purina pads for convenience only. This system is music to my ears as I am about to start working as a travel nurse and was looking to downgrade my hauling heavy clay litter everywhere. Totally worth the investment. Update 9/18/17 Gone back to using just the purina litter. My boys seem to have no problem using this and I am loving the low maintenance of the system. However, the soft pellet ammo I used before and in the pictures has become a nightmare. They kicked them out and I ended up with BB's rolling all over the place. Not fun on laminate floors 😡 Highly recommend
