Quick healthier microwave popcorn
We've tried 3 different varieties of kernels (Jolly Time, Orville R, and Trader Joes brand) and many different cooking methods, but still can't ever get a full container full of popped corn. However, we can reliably now get 2/3 to 3/4 full with no burning. As long as you are willing to accept dumping a fair amount of un-popped kernels at the end, I think you will be happy with this popper. It is easy to use and clean, and none of that junk that is in bagged microwave popcorn.
Here's our method for getting the best out of this popper:
* Pre-heat the glass container by putting a little bit of water in it and microwaving it for 90 seconds. We find this helps yield more popcorn if the container starts out warm
* Dump the water and fully dry out the container
* Add 1 & 1/2 measured "scoops" of kernels, dry, no oil
* Pop for 3 minutes and 30 second (the ideal time will depend on your microwave YMMV)
* Do not use the silicone top to melt butter; if you want butter, melt that separately. This provides better coverage and makes the container easier to clean or to turn around and make another batch immediately.
