Since we have retired, we travel a great deal and are sometimes gone up to 3 months at a time. In the past, I’ve either had to hire someone to come in and water my plants while we are gone or try to revive them when we return. No more! Thanks to Blumat watering stakes. 😀 Follow the instructions, pre-soak the spikes, then seal them while holding them under water. I have several plants being watered by a 5-gallon bucket and another smaller plant with 1-gallon milk jugs. My husband was worried that they would overflow and ruin the floor but that hasn’t been an issue at all. Plants stay moist—not too damp—if soil feels over damp, just move the plant up higher. I have mine on step stools and a 3-tier plant shelf. Cactus and other plants needing less water are up higher on the top shelf. Be sure to test the system a few weeks before you leave. I put a hash mark on the container at the fill line and was able to verify that water was being siphoned from the reservoir to the plants. I experimented with different heights until each plant was receiving exactly what they needed. The line was not quite long enough to reach my top shelf, so with that one, I’m feeding from a smaller container sitting a couple of shelves below instead of on the floor. I love this product and highly recommend it!
