Better Than Most, Affordable Too
Purchased as my 7th attempt to find a Lavender Essential oil that actually smells like pure lavender rather than lavender mixed with something else. So far this and the Edens Garden French Lavender are the only ones that made the cut, and I've tried most of the popular brands listed on Amazon (the rest ended up in the trash). I compared both to actual lavender and they smell genuine. However, the Edens Garden has a sharper scent due to it being French Lavender. After trying so many different lavenders, I ended up biting the bullet and getting a bunch of doTerra samples. Once the samples arrive, I'll compare this to see how it favors with the higher end, and update this review. ** edit: 3/27/18 - After receiving my doTerra samples, I can confidently say that the NOW Foods Lavender smells more like pure lavender than doTerra. The doTerra isn't bad (I actually prefer it), but it has a sweeter undertone compared to the real lavender that I have. If you're looking for the pure scent of lavender then NOW Foods and Edens Garden are better choices. ** edit: 4/12/18 - Discovered the NOW Foods Lavender GC/MS test, that identifies different substances in a sample. The test found NOW Food's Lavender to be impure as it contains Lavandin (lavandula x intermedia, a hybrid plant created from Lavender and Spike Lavender containing beneficial properties from both). Ultimately this oil is actual essential oil and not synthetic, it's just a mix of true lavender and lavandin. For the price and size, I still recommend this brand, but wouldn't rate it as highly as Edens Garden which is purely true lavender (lavendula augustifolia). -- If you have specific needs for this oil, compare the benefits of lavandin and lavender to ensure it meets your needs.
