This is a major improvement
being a mayor fan of headphones I try and get my hands on as much headphones as I can, I had previously tried the Beats Solo, which happened to be quite awful, and owned the Beats Solo HD's, which I found to be an improvement over the originals but still it was not a great headphone, I decided to give these new solo's a shot (blue color) since I was impressed with the jump in build quality/sound with the new studio line that was recently released.
This new solo's are even more impressive then the difference between the old studios and the new version. The build quality is far better, no more visible screws and the headband is quite flexible, it is quite a great looking small portable headset, but it doesn't stop with just the build quality, the sound quality on these is night and day compared to the old solo line, I can honestly say these happen to sound quite good, the lower end is still very present but not overpowering so you can also clearly hear the mid and the high range with detail and clarity.
The only negatives I could find with these new Solo's is that they are quite a tight fit out of the box, but I'm sure that they will start to loosen up with a few weeks with a decent amount of wear time, and the other one is that they still come with the same carry case that the old solo's also came packaged with which don't really offer much protection since it's not a hard shell case, they do however have very nice padding on the inside so to not to scratch the headset, the other negative is that they don't offer a matte finish version which I would very much prefer over the glossy finish which makes the headset a finger print magnet.
Would I recommend these? yes I would, they are a great looking/sounding small portable headset, I never thought that I would find myself writing this since I absolutely hated the previous solo's.
