Worth Trying!
I purchased this tanner after reading a ridiculous amount of reviews and inspecting all of the uploaded pictures. After using it once, I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. I am Portuguese and French Canadian - which in my case, means in the winter I am so pale I am almost translucent and have a very yellow undertone. This makes going out bare-faced nearly impossible, especially with hormonal acne. I was eager to try this because it seems to work very well even for the palest of complexions, which is a difficult feat for a self tanner. I've tried all the drugstore brands, and while some do work to a degree, unless I have a decent base tan, I am always some shade or tint of orange (particularly on my neck). I showered prior to application, and exfoliated my entire body with Queen Helene Mint Juliep Scrub. I used Jergens wet lotion immediately after getting out, and After drying off, I used a white facecloth (to test how badly it could stain clothing) to apply to the front of my body, in the areas I could easily reach. I enlisted the help of my boyfriend for my back and all the hard to reach areas - and my biggest suggestion is that if you are able, make this a two person job. The instructions said to apply a thin layer, and I did so for my legs, stomach and chest. When I turned to check my boyfriends' progress, he was using much more product than I had, and I was very concerned that my back half would be far more dark and orange. He had applied enough that it looked like he was rubbing in sunscreen, which was at least double what I had. I lightly applied a small amount to my face, neck, and behind my ears. After we were finished, I stood in front of the fan for a minute or two, and then got into bed. I did notice a very faint "tanner" smell, but nothing in comparison to most products. I immediately inspected my body the next morning, and was wow-ed by my back! I was three shades darker, but it was completely brown and looked like I had been in the sun for a few decent hours. My boyfriends application was much more even than mine had been, which is why I suggest enlisting the help of someone else. My face looked very very slightly darker, so after showering again, I applied more product. I waited a few hours and applied my foundation, which is when I noticed how big the difference was. I am using at least 3 shades darker for my makeup, which is incredible. My skin tone looks far more even and healthy after applying this. My legs and feet faired the worst - with the color on my legs being very uneven and my feet being splotchy and orange. However, with a good exfoliation, I would be comfortable wearing sandals or a skirt. I plan to update my review once I do a second application, using more product and gloves rather than a facecloth.
