The 4x size is true fit/true to size and is stretchy enough to accomodate two sizes larger easily. I think the best way to describe the fabric is like a thin pair of 95% cotton leggings. The fabric is exactly the weight that I think underwear should be, and still provide full coverage. It is thicker than your average box retailer multipack of JMS or the Fruit brand. Not too hot for summertime! They breathe really well. I've had my first five pair for almost four months, and just ordered another five pairs. It's worth noting that if you have belly overlap, the briefs will provide very light compression while keeping you drier than you would be in nylon. The waistband does have a thin piece of elastic sewn in unlike what you might imagine could be hiding in that thicker section at the top. That is not a bad thing though, because having really wide elastic in underwear can be uncomfortable. There is only 1 tag inside, which is easy to remove. The seams are sturdy and there's nothing left raw on the edges like you might find with some laser cut undies. So far they're sturdy and haven't faded at all! They don't pill, and don't look any different than when they were first bought really. I would honestly abandon all other underwear brands for this one. I have washed mine with normal laundry detergent and ran them through the dryer on high heat. I've not treated them with anything special like Woolite. Cotton underwear should stand up to any bleach-less type of laundry solutions. They are VERY SOFT, like a higher grade of tshirt or leggings, that has a touch of spandex. If you're the kind of person who wears leggins around the house for lounging, you're going to love these. All shapes are different, but I can attest that a very round at the middle shape still works with these. I've had many other so called briefs that rolled down as soon as you got your pants on over them due to the larger waistline. These stay up all day, don't stretch out of shape, and do not pinch or bind at all.
