I avoided purchasing this set because of the many sets I've bought that have been so disappointing. I'd vowed to buy only the best from here on out into eternity and have spent a fortune. But- this is the first listing on amazon.com. And it's way too cheap to be any good, right? After all I love my $400.00 set of 72 Caran D'Ache, I'd give a sleeve and a cuff for a set of Conte a Paris pastel pencils with more than 48 colours. I WAS WRONG! The colors I was missing in my "haute" art collections are in this set. The Carb-othello pastel pencils are chalky, blend able, fully compatible with my " top of the line" soft pastel pencils and sticks, even the "750.00 set of Sennelier! I'm happy again and feel less the dupe. The promises made by the manufacturers of this set are kept. The money spent is the only discordant thing but then who can kabitz about saving money huh? The point is, they're fabulous! If you want wax or oil or synthetics I can recommend a whole list of mistakes you can make. If you want a set of soft ( as in calcium carbonate and pigment) pastel pencils the masters would use and be happy to have try these!
