Let’s be Honest
Lots of reviewers LOVE this thing.
Lots of reviewers HATE this thing.
Eliminating those outliers, here’s an honest, pragmatic opinion/review:
I had an older model that lasted me a decade. For the past few years, it wouldn’t dispense cleaner. I just mixed-n-poured some from a bucket and used the Floormate to scrub & pick up the water. It was worth it just for that.
I finally broke down & got this new one. paid $131.50. For that price, I’m not gonna gripe if it “lasts only 2 years.” I’m old enough to appreciate that it keeps me from scrubbing the floors on my hands-n-knees, saves my back, and sucks up the nasty, dirty water.
It’s not perfect. And it’s probably not intended to “scrub” horrible messes. But it cleans my wood-look textured tile floors just fine. And works really well on my smooth tile floors.
It doesn’t clean within about 1/4” of the baseboards. Nothing does. I just use a Swiffer or damp paper towels for that.
It doesn’t “dry” the floors 100%. It squeegees up 99% of the water, but does leave a few random little wet spots. So what. I can live with wiping up a few spots with paper towels. Or leave them to dry on their own in 5 minutes.
It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, easy to fill & empty. I’m using it until it dies, then getting another.
Bottom line is that if you expect more than I’ve described, you’ll probably be dissatisfied with it. But if you can appreciate the helping hand it affords — and you have realistic expectations — it’s a great time saving, back saving tool.
