Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I read the reviews here and was trepidatious about buying this because I expected the picture quality to be really terrible. The price was right, but I didn't want to buy something that would be unwatchable. Finally, though, I decided to take a gamble, rather than miss what would be a very good deal. I'm not sure if the bad reviews came from blu-ray snobs who think they're suffering the torments of the damned if everything doesn't look like a Criterion disc or what, but, honestly, the picture here is really not that bad for a set of budget discs. I was worried it was going to look like YouTube with a bunch of blurriness or pixelation, but, they don't. Wings was never a hi-def show to begin with, and these look pretty much the way I remember them from broadcasts. It's comparable to watching a decent-quality videotape. If you've bought other Mill Creek releases and could deal with their sharpness, then you should have no problems here; these are similar to their other TV sets. And I viewed it on a 58 inch plasma TV. Granted, it's not a set you'd be using to show off your TV's features (which would be too much to expect from an 8-seasons-for-less-than-$30 set, anyway), and if it had been a $150 box set or something, I might expect a bit more. But the picture is not painful to watch, and you're getting a good deal for the price. Unless you're really hung up about super-sharpness, don't be scared off, like I almost was.
